"You Couldn't Get the Picture" is a song by American country music artist George Jones. It was composed by Chuck Harter. ==Background== In 1991, Jones moved to MCA after nearly twenty years at what was now Sony Music. His last solo hit had been the #5 single "I'm a One-Woman Man" in 1988; his releases since then had performed poorly or had not charted at all. Recognizing a need for a change, Jones signed with MCA, who promised him a big promotional push so he could compete with a new generation of country singers like Garth Brooks and Clint Black, who were beginning to dominate country radio. Produced by Kyle Lehning, who had recently produced a string of top-selling Randy Travis albums, "You Couldn't Get the Picture" was chosen as the lead single and climbed to #32 on the ''Billboard'' country survey, better than his recent singles had fared but nowhere near the heights George had been used to for most of his career. Jones, who appeared slimmer than he had during his final days at Sony and had dyed his hair blond, also made a video for the song.
